Meet the Team: Jon Begg
Jon Begg is the newest member of the team at Whitman Global, an APEX Surface Care Company. Jon has more than 10 years’ experience building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. As relationship manager, Jon will act as a liaison with new and existing clients and ensure their ultimate satisfaction.
“We are excited to have Jon join our team. His passion for excellence, empowered living, and achievement is demonstrated through his Eagle Scout status and reflected in our own values,” said Thomas Holland, CEO of APEX Surface Care, the parent company of Whitman Global.
We sat down with Jon to welcome him to the Whitman team and learn more about him, both personally and professionally.
1. Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Earning the rank of Eagle Scout and growing up in Seattle instilled in me a deep love of the outdoors and a craving for adventure. Before the age of 18, I summited 12 mountains and completed five expedition hikes over 60 miles. In my early 20s, I spent a few years in the fine-dining industry and developed a fondness for delicious food and well-crafted wine, and I have been exploring the diverse Seattle food scene ever since. I started my B2B sales career in print, where I focused on consultative selling and relationship management, and moved on to paper sales when I had the opportunity. I am super excited to join the APEX team and continue to broaden my horizons!
2. Why did you decide to join the Whitman Global team?
After meeting with both Lottie and Thomas, I could tell the company had a solid leadership at the helm who actually cared about their employees. I’ve had a few years of experience working in large corporate environments, and the idea of working at a company with a true “family” culture is a breath of fresh air.
3. How has your past experience prepared you for your new role?
Working in both the print and fine-dining industries has equipped me to deal with high-pressure situations that involve a lot of customization, the ability to make changes on the fly, and heavy customer interaction. Additionally, I care deeply for both my clients and my team and go above and beyond to make sure they are taken care of and happy.
4. What's the most interesting article or book you've read lately?
As a huge true crime nerd, I really enjoyed the book Teasing Secrets From the Dead by Emily Craig. It follows the author’s career as she transitions from medical illustrator to one of the country's most respected forensic anthropologists who led investigations into national tragedies such as the Waco siege and the Oklahoma City bombing. Some of the subject matter is a little dark, but reading about the incredible human moments that happen after a disaster remind you that there are always forces of good in this world.
5. What's on your bucket list?
While I am still young enough to complete them, I would love to climb Mount Rainier and get my helicopter private pilot license. Unfortunately, the first time I was scheduled to attempt Rainier, there were whiteout conditions and a windchill temperature of -10 degrees—in July!
