Meet the Team: Patrick Maez
Patrick Maez joined APEX Group, a Diverzify Company, in April 2024. Patrick has more than 20 years in the commercial interiors industry, most recently owning and operating a construction cleaning company. As vice president of sales and operations over the construction cleaning division, Patrick will provide strategic oversight and management of the division while expanding the business nationwide.
“As construction continues to pick up across the country, the demand for construction cleaning services is rising as well,” said Thomas Holland, president of APEX Group. “Patrick is the perfect choice to lead our efforts to grow this side of our business and meet the needs of our clients.”
We recently sat down with Patrick to welcome him to the team and learn more about him, both personally and professionally.
1. Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I have been in the facility maintenance industry for 20 years. I’ve spent most of my time working in the commercial janitorial space, running operations for nationwide cleaning companies. I also spent a few on the exterior side of things, working in the landscape and snow removal industry. For the last five years I was the owner/operator of a construction cleaning business in the Phoenix, Arizona, market.
2. Why did you decide to join the APEX Group team?
I have known Thomas Holland for 2+ years and Jay Natale of the APEX Phoenix team for 10+ years. When this opportunity presented itself, I was very excited about the chance to come and work with a great group of folks whom I have interacted with in the industry for some time.
3. How has your past experience prepared you for your new role?
Having worked in the facilities industry for 20+ years and owning my own construction cleaning business for the last five years, I definitely have the experience needed for this role. I think my skill set aligns perfectly with what we are wanting to do as we build out our construction cleaning division nationwide.
4. What are your hobbies?
Right now, my kids are my hobby. They are at an age where they are all playing some sort of sport or activity that consumes pretty much all of my and my wife’s time outside of work. When I am not at a sports event or activity for my children, I love spending time on the golf course.
5. What's the most interesting article or book you've read lately?
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey has helped me a ton the last few years of my career. The book specifically highlights proactive thinking, prioritization, effective communication, collaboration, and personal growth.
6. If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be ?
My favorite dish in the whole world is a carne asada burrito smothered in green chili. I grew up eating Mexican food, and this meal is at the top of my list.
7. What's on your bucket list?
When my kids are a bit older I would love to spend a couple of weeks traveling around Europe with my family.
