Meet the Team: Richey Houdek
Richey Houdek recently joined APEX Group, a Diverzify Company, as a regional client development executive. Richey got his start in the janitorial business and never looked back. In his new position, he will leverage his decades of experience in the commercial interiors industry to support clients across the state of Texas.
“Richey has a well-deserved reputation as a high-performing and outgoing individual who truly enjoys getting to know people and taking care of them,” said Thomas Holland, president of APEX Group. “That is exactly the type of person you want leading your client development efforts, and we’re thrilled to have him on board.”
We recently sat down with Richey to welcome him to the team and learn more about him, both personally and professionally.
1. Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I grew up in Midland and attended Midland College. My wife, Cathey, and I currently live in Frisco. We have two sons, Reid and Paul, and five grandchildren, Roman (8), Daphne (7), Ruthie (6), Rex (5) and Rory (4). They live in Austin and San Antonio.
2. Why did you decide to join the APEX Group team?
I have gotten to know JD [Vice President of Client Development ‑ DFW John Davern] very well in recent years through various industry events. When the opportunity to join the APEX Group team arose, he and I were both very excited about it. It worked out perfectly.
3. How has your past experience prepared you for your new role?
I have been building regional relationships in the facilities and construction sectors for many years. That experience, and the contacts I have made, will serve me well in my new position.
4. What are your hobbies?
I enjoy sports, golf and traveling with my wife and family. Cathey and I love to cruise, and we always have one or two cruises on our calendar. Our next one is coming up Sept. 1.
5. What's the most interesting article or book you've read lately?
I recently read Unreasonable Hospitality: The Remarkable Power of Giving People More Than They Expect by Will Guidara. Anyone in the customer service business should keep this book on their desk and read it quarterly.
6. If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
I would happily eat the chicken piccata at Al Biernat’s for every meal because it is the very best.
7. What's on your bucket list?
I want to land a whale of an account that keeps coming back every week with orders.
