International Carmaker Turns to APEX for Floor-to-Ceiling Solutions

The Situation

No matter how quickly you call out pest control, spiders are quicker. The average spider can spin a web in less than an hour, and those cobwebs stick around long after their creators have left the building. In 2019, a regional operations manager for an international carmaker called on APEX Surface Care after growing tired of seeing abandoned cobwebs in the hard-to-reach nooks and crannies of the company’s 200,000-square-foot facility in north Texas.

“We needed a company to clean all of the cobwebs that had accumulated over the years. They were everywhere on the ceiling and along the walls,” the manager said. “APEX had a few teams of people working all week long to clean the facility the way we wanted it.”

In 2020, the carmaker needed help addressing a different kind of bug (although technically, spiders are arachnids): the coronavirus that causes COVID-19.

“We were looking for someone to disinfect our facilities whenever there was a reported case of someone testing positive for COVID,” the manager said. “Specifically, we wanted someone who could respond quickly so we would experience minimal downtime.”

The Solution

The location in question is no ordinary warehouse. It provides parts to more than 100 dealerships across the Southwestern U.S. and Mexico and houses a state-of-the-art training center for service technicians. Shutting down for an extended period of time is not an option.

The manager remembered the prompt service APEX had provided in the past and was pleased to discover the company offered infection prevention services as well. In fact, APEX had been providing disinfection and infection control services for more than a decade. APEX’s trained and certified technicians also had extensive experience with electrostatic spraying, which the manager knew was the most effective method for applying a disinfectant.

“On the many different occasions we have used APEX to disinfect our facilities, it has always been at night or on the weekends where the situations were urgent,” said the manager. “APEX has responded very quickly. One time, on a weeknight, they were on-site within an hour and had all the common areas electrostatically disinfected, which kills the COVID virus.”

The Result

Throughout the pandemic, the manager has turned to APEX to disinfect not just the original location but several warehouses in the carmaker’s network. He trusts APEX to provide good value and great service.

“We have been pleased each time APEX has performed work at our facilities,” he said. “They have been punctual and responsive on very tight timelines.”

Unlike other companies that have taken advantage of the pandemic to raise rates for disinfection, APEX has maintained its reasonable pricing structure. It’s just one of the many benefits of partnering with APEX.

“It seems like every time we have a challenging situation with cleaning our facilities, APEX has been there to provide outstanding service from the moment that they were contacted,” the manager said. “They are a pleasure to work with, and I am glad that we have them as a business partner.”
